LANMark Computer Concepts, Inc. is based in Lutz, Florida, a
small semi-rural community on the outskirts of the Tampa/St. Petersburg metropolitan
area. We enjoy an area rich in diversion due to the variety of individuals who
have moved into the area. On frequent saying around our part of the country
is, "There is nobody originally from Florida". It seems that a large majority
of our friends and neighbors are from some other part of the country.
Our location on the west coast of Florida is considered by many to be one of the best locations to spend the winters for many northern families. Our "snow birds" start rolling in shortly after Labor Day and make their journeys back north just after Memorial Day. Being located just over 100 miles from Orlando, many of our visitors make the northeastward trek to visit "Mickey" and his "Magic Kingdom" so traffic out of Tampa at I-275 and I-4, typically referred to as "Malfunction Junction" is often quite congested.
The busiest tourist time of the year is spring break. Most of our northern visitors are still hanging out at the beaches when the two week college party begins all over our state. We rarely see as many young people with wild shorts and string bikinis as we do during this two week festival. It's quite a site! Our weather is one of the major reasons for the winter relocation and vacation habits of our many visitors. We have very mild winters with temperatures ranging from 50-60 degrees at night to 60-75 during the day. When the mercury is slated to drop below 45 it makes major headlines around here. These mild temperatures allow the majority of the population to wear shorts and short sleeves year around. Our summers are slightly less desirable due to the higher temperatures and increased humidity. Average summer temperatures run from 65-75 at night and 75-90 for day time highs. The average summer humidity runs between 60 and 90 percent which can make for some slightly uncomfortable daytime conditions. The nights however are quite nice for a late night swim in the pool or a nice cookout on the screened in decks around town.
During the summers we have afternoon showers caused by the high humidity and on shore winds typical in the area. They start rolling in around 3:00 every afternoon and cool us off with a brief shower generally ending by 6:00 to 7:00 every night. After the showers we often have mild evenings good for a late nap in the shade. The combination of higher humidity, water on three sides of the peninsula and generally flat terrain causes frequent late afternoon and early evening lightning shows which have earned this area the nickname of "Lightning Alley". Our local hockey team was named for this phenomenon. For most of our residents, this is the only place they would consider living. We enjoy our sun and fun lifestyle, and often take our outstanding weather for granted. We have a casual lifestyle of evening and weekend water activities as well as other outdoor activities. For those of us who play golf, not many places on earth could offer the opportunity to play as frequently as we do. Other than the occasional rainout days, we can enjoy the sport virtually every day of the year. Not a bad way to relieve the daily stress of work. While we do thoroughly enjoy our location and wouldn't consider moving away, we always enjoy working with customers in other areas of the country. It certainly makes us more appreciative of the fine things we enjoy here. If you ever need a vacation and can't decide where to go, consider a visit to our little peninsula. If you do decide to drop in, give us a call. We would love to meet you!
